Each year, the Catholic Ministries Appeal serves more than 600,000 people on Long Island. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to support the vital ministries of the Appeal. More than just a donation, it is an act of love, a response to Jesus’ call to care for our brothers and sisters. Through your generosity, God’s mercy reaches into homes, hearts, and communities across Long Island, bringing hope, healing, and support to those who need it most.
Feeding the Body and Soul
Many families on Long Island quietly struggle with food insecurity, unsure where their next meal will come from. Rising inflation has only made it harder for them to afford basic groceries and essentials. Through your support of the Catholic Ministries Appeal, Catholic Charities and Parish Ministry can provide groceries, hot meals, and compassionate outreach to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

One volunteer shared, “I never realized how many people in my neighborhood were struggling until I started serving. The Appeal makes it possible for us to bring not just food, but dignity and love.” Your generosity helps ensure that no one is forgotten.
Forming the Next Generation
From Faith Formation programs to youth ministries and campus faith groups, the Catholic Ministries Appeal helps form the hearts and minds of young Catholics. These programs nurture a relationship with Christ that will guide them through life.
Whether it’s teens encountering Christ through retreats, children preparing for their First Communion, or college students exploring their faith on campus, your gift helps plant seeds of faith that grow for generations.
Answering God’s Call
Vocations to the priesthood and religious life are a gift to our Diocese, and your support plays a vital role in encouraging and sustaining them. Every priest’s journey begins with the courage to say “yes” and your generosity makes that “yes” possible by covering formation, education, and pastoral training.
Dignity for the Elderly and Vulnerable
Through ministries that serve seniors, people with disabilities, and those experiencing mental illness or crisis, the Appeal ensures that the most vulnerable among us are never alone. From safe, affordable housing to home visits, counseling, and spiritual care, your gift brings light and companionship to those who often feel forgotten.
“I lost my husband and was living alone, but thanks to the Church’s outreach program, I found community again,” said one senior supported by your generosity.
Your Faith in Action
Every act of generosity echoes Christ’s call: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
By giving, you become the hands and heart of Jesus in our world today.
