The feast day for Our Lady of Sorrows is held on September 15th. But did you know that the whole of September is traditionally dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows? The name Lady of Sorrows is befitting of the many challenges and heartaches Mary experienced throughout her life.

Like us, Mary faced moments of uncertainty, loss, and suffering. Yet through it all, she remained faithful and trusted in God's plan. Her example reminds us that we can turn to God even when life is difficult.
One of the most moving images in our faith is Mary standing at the foot of the Cross. She watched her Son suffer, yet she never abandoned Him. Her strength came not from having all the answers, but from trusting God even in the midst of pain.
Many people carry heavy burdens, whether it's concern for a loved one, grief, illness, loneliness, family struggles, or simply the stress of everyday life. Our Lady of Sorrows reminds us that we are not alone in those struggles. She understands what it means to suffer, and she walks with us through our own difficult moments.
This devotion is not about focusing on sadness. It is about finding hope in the midst of hardship. Mary's life teaches us that God is present even when life feels uncertain and that His love remains constant through every season.
During September, consider spending a few extra moments in prayer each day. Ask Mary to intercede for you, your family, and anyone who may be carrying a heavy cross. Entrust your worries to her and allow her example of faith and perseverance to inspire you. When you pray the rosary, devote special time to pray on Tuesday and Friday. Those days of the week are traditionally when the Sorrowful Mysteries are prayed upon.
As we honor Our Lady of Sorrows this month, may we remember that sorrow is never the end of the story. Through faith, God brings healing, strength, and hope.
Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.
